Busy, But COOL, August!

The end of July was a very hectic, few weeks! Little D had surgery on her thumb. Nothing serious, but slowed us down a bit. Made a trip to Kirkwood Lodge, for a week of calling. Weather was really hot! After finishing Kirkwood, we made a quick trip to Dallas, for an appointment with the surgeon. After two weeks, the Doc removed the sutures in her thumb. The doc gave her the okay to ride, so we loaded the bikes, and trailer, and began our journey to McCloud, CA. The first day of riding, was unbelievably, hot! We rode to Amarillo, where we found cooler weather, and a few, welcomed, rain showers! We decided to ride toward Colorado, in hopes of finding cooler weather. Our choice of routes, paid off! We enjoyed very cool weather all the way to Reno. We visited friends in Denver, Bill & Marilyn, who were gracious enough to host us, overnight. Upon leaving Denver, we rode to Rock Springs, WY. The weather was great! Perfect riding weather! We decided to take the flaming Gorge loop, on our way to Reno.

As we left Denver, we stopped off at Colorado State University. We found a garden, where Little D was in her element!

Our ride through the Flaming Gorge, included this ride through Fire Hole Canyon.

While riding through the Gorge, we encountered much wildlife, including these antelope.

After riding the Flaming Gorge, we continued on to Wells, NV, where we crashed out, after a terrific day of riding! We stopped off at our Friends, Dr Bill, and Sheri, just outside of Reno. Had a great day of R&R, visiting with Bill & Sheri, and our other friends, Dave & Heidi, and their daughters! Sunday, we continued to McCloud. After calling a week of dancing, our buddy Ray, from the valley, stopped off, for a visit. We were really glad to see a face, from home!

Our 3 weeks, traveling to, and residing in McCloud, have been great! We move on to Sacramento, tomorrow, for a couple of dances, and to attend a birthday party, for one of our square dancing friends. We'll head back to Reno, after the party, for a bit of R&R, and then start our journey back to Texas. We haven't decided our return route, yet, but you can bet we'll stay north, in the cool weather as long as we can!
