I'm finally getting around to updating our blog! We're still trying to decide where the time has gone! This winter has been a blur! We have been enjoying a terrific winter! The weather has been terrific! Not even a frost, and not much wind! We have enjoyed meeting new friends, and renewing "Ol friendships"!
The photo, below, was taken on South Padre Island, on one of our rides to the Island. Left to right is: Lynn, Mary, Big D, Little D, Andy Hancock, Ron, and Jackie. Andy is a world class sand sculptor, from England. This was taken at Boomerang Billy's, on the Island.
Andy, posing with our "foxes"! Andy, always gets a kick out of the girls tails!
This photo was taken as we prepared to ride in the Borderfest parade. Kathy, Ron's mom Juanita, Jackie, and Decah.
The girls, showing off their tales!
Steve, showing off his harem!?!?
Juanita, and Irma.
The crew at Borderfest parade: Raymond, Jutta, Char, Tom, Keith, Ron, Darryl, and Decah.
D&D waiting to line up!
Hamming it up, while waiting for the parade to line up!
Marion, Keith, Dave, & and Steve.
Tom & and friend, and Jutta.
Must be discussing the aerodynamics of motorcycling!?
Jackie, Decah, and Kathy, waiting for the lineup!
Edith, and Gary, arriving!
Lynn, Larry, and Kathy
This trike showed up with 2 riders, and there Dachshound, in the mini sidecar! I Thought this was cool!
The Girls planning their parade strategy?
Jack, Decah, Juanita, and Kathy.
The crew, enjoying a break, and a snack, after the parade, at Borderfest!
The Borderfest theme, this year, was a tribute to England. As you can see, D&D wore their best British attire!
Big D, and Ron posing with three Borderfest entertainers! As you see, we break em in young!
We all had a great time at Borderfest! Saw several great music shows, including Charo! Actually, we watched Charo's rehearsal. It was as good as her show!
The photo's below, were taken at a cookout at the South Texas Motorcycle Museum, in Edinburg.
Big Charlie, was the chef, who cooked up some great Iowa tenderloins, for the crew!
Around the table is: Gary, Lynn, Mary, Jack, Ron, Decah, Dirty Dave (our mc mechanic, and museum curator), Big Charlie, Steve, Pam, and Dirty's son, (you guessed it) Harley!
Big Charlie, and Steve. Is that watermelon, Steve wants deep fried?
After a great lunch, Dirty gave us the VIP tour of the museum. This is one of the bikes, Dirty fired up for us!
One of the reasons, I always enjoy the museum tour, is there are so many bikes that reminds me of my Dad's Harley, a 1947 Knucklehead.
These two bikes are the same model, and year as my Dad's old Harley!
Dirty, explaining "Motorcycles 101" to us!
Larry, Kathy, Gary, Steve, Big Charlie, Dirty Dave, Mary, Lynn, Ernie, Jackie, Ron, Darryl, and Decah getting the VIP tour!
One of the many displays, in the museum, is the Captain America bike. This is the original helmet, worn by Peter Fonda, in the movie "Easy Rider"! Look close, and you can see Peter Fonda's autograph on the helmet!
Little D, at the "Captain America" display! The bike is a replica of the one ridden by Peter Fonda, in the movie. A bit of trivia, there were three bikes used to film the movie. Two were stolen, and the third was blown up in the movie! No one knows where the two that were stolen are! Even the bike Peter Fonda has, is a reproduction. Who knows, maybe someday the two that were stolen, may show up!
This is another model like my Dad's! My Dad's was solid red, instead
of two tone.
Some other items of interest, in the museum, are several albums, autographed by the entire band "Led Zeppelin"
This display is four Henderson Excelsior Motorcycles.
These are some of my favorites!
As we finished our Museum tour, we gathered for some final thoughts! Gary, Dirty, Little D, Ron, and Steve.
The South Texas Motorcycle Museum, is one of the finest, I've visited! Lots of vintage Harley's, Indian's, Henderson's, as well as several other brands! If ever in South Texas, don't miss this attraction! Here's the website for the museum:
This photo was taken just before we began our season, in the valley.
It was taken along the Mighty Mississippi, in Illinois.
This was a water taxi, that showed up while we were eating at the "Loading Dock" in Illinois!
Jean, Harlan, Darryl, Decah, Velma, and Marion, at the "Loading Dock". One of our favorite rides, while visiting St Louis!
Another photo, at Boomerang's, on the Island.
Mary, Lynn, Ron, Jack, Decah, and Darryl, enjoying our ride to the Island, in January!
As you can see, we have a good time, with all our friends, in the Valley! I'll try to do better, updating our blog!
